Nilchian was born in 1966 in Sari, Iran. He 1992 he graduated with a Masters in Industrial Design, Art University, Tehran He has worked as a photographer, graphis and designer in several newspapers such as Sorush Nojava and Hamshahri monthly magazines. Since 1994 his work has been exhibited in solo and group shows including Silk Road Gallery.
He won the First Prize of Photography, Children and Youth Press Festival in Tehran in 1996, and the Second Prize of the Young Cinema Society Festival in 1993.
